I don't know about you,
but I'm in constant dialogue with myself,
about who I am...
or who I could be...
I have absolutely no concept
of being one fixed entity.
In fact, I discover I am fluid...
like the paint on my brushes,
and I welcome the process of painting,
because it keeps me fluid...
Who I am knows this:
I was born American,
I grew up Danish,
I have Jewish heritage,
I know languages,
I breathe storytelling,
because I find truth in storytelling...
and with my painting
I want to fuse the mystery of heritage
with the magic of storytelling...
I also know I cannot paint anybody.
In fact, I prefer to paint myself,
and that includes the myself I see and feel
in the beings whether dead or alive...
The recognition makes me paint,
because that is how I may know who I am...
I must love my subjects, the dialogue is open...
I can hear the sounds, I can feel the strings,
and I am drawn to my subjects...
and to the love affair.
